Low-Light

The Golden Hour

One of my favorite low-light photography is trying to capture the beautiful colors in the sky during "The Golden Hour". Here are some of the sunset pictures that I have taken during some of my travels.
Sunset in California

Here, I am sitting on a beach house patio just watching the sun go down behind these palm trees at Redondo Beach in California. Love how the deeper it sets the more orange the horizon is. Next is the sun setting off an island in the West Caribbean. When I get the chance to take a cruise trip, I always try to get a sunset picture. Also love how the sun reflex off the ocean waters.

Another beautiful place I visit at least once a year is Sedona, Arizona. Sedona has gorgeous red rock formations and beautiful sunsets. This photography was taken at Sedona's Airport. The airport is on a mesa that over looks Sedona. If you ever get a chance to visit, the airport is a great spot to take pictures.

  More Night and Low-Light Photography

Blue Christmas
I went to the Zoo Lights at the Phoenix Zoo in Arizona and had the opportunity to work on my night and low-light photography. I took these pictures at the Phoenix Zoo during the holiday season. I used my mono-pod and had my ISO set at 3200 with no flash. It is a challenge to take pictures at night or in low-lighting, but I must say I think I am getting the hang of it.... practice and still more practice. The picture on the right are saguaro cacti decorated in blue Christmas lights.

Hot Air Balloons Lite Up At Night
Night and Low-Light Photography:

This page will show photographs that I have taken at night or in low-lighting environment. Taking a photograph on a bright sunny day is easy, but when that sun starts to go down or your at an event that has low-lighting the photograph can be more challenging, especially if you don't have a tripod or mono-pod with you.

These two photographs where taken in Scottsdale, Arizona during a Halloween event in October 2012. There were about 30 hot air balloons on display during this event. To catch the bright colors of the balloons, I had to set my camera at an ISO of 3200 on a mono-pod and wait for the balloonists to light up their balloons. There was no flash taken in any of these pictures.
